Suspension parts
This is my first thread, so please bare with me. I have a Kirkham frame (KMP092) and I'm looking for suspension parts. I've checked with Kirkham, Shelby, Cobra Restorers, and AMP. All seem priced too high. I need A-arms, spindles, hubs, hub carriers, shocks and springs (maybe coil overs), uprights, calipers, rotors, brakes, bushings, ball joints, etc. for all four corners. If anyone has these parts or can give me a lead on where to find them, please contact me. I might even consider fabricating my own if someone has suspension blueprints. Any help will be appreciated.:confused:

Am I correct in, you have a bare KMP frame (of early sequence) and you need full front and rear suspension? Have you did anything on the brakes, like select brand, sizes, purchase, etc. that will greatly effect what you can do as far as the existing frame points since you will need spindles both front and rear, and "custom" ones are VERY EXPENSIVE. It will also effect your dual master cylinder selection, will the replacement ones you are using work with the calipers, etc. and so on? grumpy |
Grumpy, Thanks for the quick post. I haven't done or bought anything. Your correct in your assumption of the bare frame. I have no suspension parts. It is the main frame rails with all the 1 in. sub framing, all the proper mounting points, cross members, etc. I like the Wilwood 11 in. brake system for the front and
AMB (?) set up on the rear, but would use stock Girling if I had to. As for master cylinders, Wilwood or stock, as I haven't bought either. All I have is the above described frame and an early CSX 4000 fiberglass body, with 2 doors, hood, trunk, foot boxes, trunk tub and the aluminium sub panels. Mike |

I have a set of lower control arms for a Jaguar IRS for sale. These were made to be fitted to a Contemporary Cobra. They are completely new and include shafts.

I assume in your earlier post you are referring to AMP which is George Petrus' shop in LA. I've visited him there and have his components on the rear of my car - great stuff! He has direct bolt on compentents for your system but I'm sure it's not cheap - what is regarding our hobby.

You are right about our 'hobby'. It has been said, "If you have to ask how much does it cost, you probably cannot afford it." However, since the suspension for an origanal or replica frame represents about 20-25% of the total cost of the car, I shall continue my quest for the least expensive parts. |
