Flying Freaking Cobra!

On page 109 of Dave Friedman's "Shelby Cobra The Original Archives 1962 - 1965" there is a black and white photo of a Cobra getting airborn at the Nurburgring in 1964. The caption starts "Jo Schlesser flies a Cobra roadster..."

Photo is from the Eric della Faille/Alexix Callier Collection.

Has anyone seen this photo available as a print or a poster? I've searched the web but didn't find anything available. Have I left some stone unturned?

Doug,

I would keep an eye on eBay. It's amazing, the stuff that comes up there.

Doug, I know which photo you're speaking of, it's a good one. You might try contacting Friedman himself. I realize he didn't take that particular one, but he may be able to assist you in finding out how to obtain a larger copy (probably for a fee...):

CobraEd: Nice pictures. Same moment, two separate angles, I take it?

Snakeeyes: Thanks for the lead. I've emailed Dave to see if he might be a channel for a poster-sized print.

Doug,
There is a spot a few miles from my house that I can get airborn.
I know I catch air at about 40 mph. Drive on out. :3DSMILE::3DSMILE::3DSMILE: We'll set up some cameras, block of the road and catch some serious air:cool:
Just think.... Not just any Cobra airborn, but YOUR car!
3,000 miles isn't too far to drive is it??:JEKYLHYDE:

A Cobra guy: That may be the only way I can get the picture I want. I got an email reply from Dave Friedman simply saying, "Sorry, not possible. Dave"

Searched all over on the web, to no avail. Rats! I was looking forward to framing that vintage shot and hanging it over my desk in my office.

Anyone know anything about the Eric della Faillel/Alexis Callier colletion of photographs? Nothing on the web.

Doug,

Sorry to hear about the terse response. Unfortunately I was afraid that might be the feedback you got.

I don't have that particular book in front of me right now--are you sure it's "Callier" and not "Cahier?" I ask because there are a couple of "Cahiers" who have been photographing racing for quite a few years now, and I wonder if that photo might be connected to one of them:

Also, another thought: you might register at www.atlasf1.com and put up a post on their Nostalgia Forum. There are some big names in the world of racing literature posting there, like Doug Nye and Eoin Young, and some incredibly knowledgable people with vast archives of information. If any place can help you track that photo, it's there--

Well, I'm sure Dave's a pretty busy guy, and it wasn't as if I wanted to buy one of his pictures. I'm sure I was one of many emails he gets bombarded with over things to which he is moderately connected.

"Terse" and "Brusque" are words I usually hear used to describe me.

Thanks for the tips on the f1 sites. I'll go check it out.
