427 SC Roll Bar Height???
Can anyone provide me the correct height of the 180 bend/middle down to the the top of the body/cowl? Thank you!
|
Aprox between 12-14 inches from the body to the underside of the bend. My Spf was about 12, when I installed my bar on my 289 I used 14 because most track events require a min. of 3" between the rollbar and your head/helmet, and for me that gave me the clearance.
Hope this helps:) |
OK Cracker, I'll bite......
Unlike your present roll bar, which is probably 3" lower than the top of your head, I would recommend it be at a minimum 3" taller than the top of your melon:3DSMILE: For those of us in the range of 6'2" and above, I would think you want the roll-bar to be "functional";) I know, this is not what you wanted to hear, but I could not resist...... Thanks GR & BigEasy! BE - yes, I do want to continue to be your neighbor & friend and since some "work" is now being done on the car it was the right time to address the inadequate roll bar height. When I told GeorgiaSnake what I was planning to do he said "it's going to look like your driving with a telephone pole sticking out of your car!" - I can't win! Some are fat, some are tall - thankfully I'm not both!

Cracker - soon to be TP - in your case somehwere in the 44" to 46" range should work.
