Radio Antenna?

I am thinking of putting a power radio antenna in the rear of the car.

Anyone have a radio antenna?

Anyone have one that is power?

Where did you install it?

Just wondering.

I have a power antenna in the top of the left rear fender. Almost right across from the gas cap.

I have an antenna. It is not power, it is a flexible one. I is installed in the trunk in front of the fuel filler hose. Mostly out of site when the trunk is open that way and you don't even know it is there. Works fine and you can ground it to the frame if you have one that like to be grounded.

Have you thought of using one of the "hidden" antennas that attach with dual sided tape under a portion of the car where it isn't seen? Fiberglass is quite transparent to RF. Mine's going underneath the top of the trunk since that is where the radio is going but I've heard of them under the dash or in the glove box for front mounted radios.

Mine runs the antenna cable from the trunk up to the dash mounted radio. Since there are other cables like the battery cable, no one pays much attention to it. I would think you could hide one just about anywhere on a Cobra and not worry about it. Thought about the power one, but didn't want to poke any holes in the car.

We install power antenna's on most of the cars we build. We install it on the drivers rear quarter at an angle so it matches the angle of the windshield. When it is down all you see is a small chrome ring. Most folks do not even see it.

Radio? Who can hear a radio in these things? I was thinking of installing a CD player in the boot with nothing but Black Sabbath tunes, but figured that even Ozzie would be drowned out by my lovely Snake tunes...

We can hear the radio and cd player just fine as long as we are not flooring the car. Just driving around town the pipes are not that loud.

Badrich: Try putting in a pwerfull pre-amp and play Stevie Ray Vaughn and George Thoroughgood:)

My little Blaupunkt 40x4 can be heard just fine. Speakers between the seats ala viper and 2o Boston sats inthe dash for stereo separation.

Flipper35, did you have to make the viper center or was it part of the car?

I thought about that and how nice it would be to have speakers in the center section.

I am not sure I want to do more glass work than I have. Itches like he!! and gets on everything.

I like the power in the rear.

Anyone else have a viper center consol?

flipper35 05-10-2004 11:16 AM

The speakers are just positioned between the seats like the Viper. All I had to do was cut out the hole for the speaker and weatherproof it. Not much to it really.

okay, I thought maybe you made some sort of box that came out between the seats.

Thank you.
