Knock-off galling

I was quite amazed (actually pissed off) at how easy the wheel alloy galls in the knock-off bearing face, or picks up, where the lugnut seats against the wheel.
Is this a normal occurence with the knock off and should I expect some galling in this area?

I will be using an anti-seize compound

You might want to look up the stuck knockoff spinner thread by southernfriedcj about a month ago. Went on for a long time but some good information among the shots taken.

A LIGHT, even coat of antiseize on the hub threads and wheel and hub mating surfaces is highly recommended.

I routinely remove, clean, recoat and retighten my knockoffs about every 90 days, and have never had a galling problem. I also recommend a very light smudge of the stuff on the drive pins.

Knock-off galling

DonC,
Thanks I have looked it up and some people go for stainless spinners, cant seem to find where they are purchased from, Enzos are stainless as per email I have received!

Budman,

What sort of anti-seize do you use, Loctite US said use the Zinc anti-seize for soft aluminium, but there may be better heavier duty stuff around, as the Cobra has the steel adapter as well to consider!

For stailess steel spinners try http://www.cobraracing.com/CompanyAMP.html.
A word of advice-if you go with the stainless spinners spend the extra money to have them polished by the manufacturer. Major project to do them yourself.
