Csx 2310 ; Do You Know Any History?

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE HISTORY OF CSX 2310? I SAW IN LAST WEEKEND AT THE "ALL FORD CAR SHOW", BUT IT WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT NEXT TO THE SHOW. LOOKED VERY ORIGINAL. PAINT AND CARPET SHOWED WEAR. I FORGOT MY CAMERA! I'M SORRY NO PICS!

Dwight,

Sorry I don't have much. Just what the 1997 registry shows and I am sure you have already looked at that. It shows the car as having had 8 owners and the last are Dan & Martha Case of Alabama. It may have changed hands since this registry was published.

Hi Guys, It just a good old beat up Cobra. Maintained but never restored. (Its too much fun to ruin by restoration.) It has plenty of original dents too. Back before SAAC's insurance carrier got real strict CSX2310 got run at the drags and open tracks. The last time it was on track was a a Mid America meet with Mr. Peter Brock driving in the vintage race group. See my gallerey.....

Dan,

The picture that Ron posted looks great for a car that old and driven. Congratulations on having it. I tried back in the 60s to get a 260 or 289 and couldn't find one for sale. Now I can't afford one.

Ron :)

Thank you but pictures make it look a lot nicer than it is condition wise. It is extremely original though. Back when I was runing open track events at Hallet I never minded more chips and dents. (Hallet was rough with lots of loose sand and had patches of pavement that broke up every time a car went over it.) After 30 minutes flat out I would find sand and gravel everywhere in the car and my clothes. One windshield glass got totally trashed out on track. In one event I was running with a 289 powered Genie sports racer and a MkI GT40. They both had very wide sticky race tires. They were considerablly faster than me down the straights. They would blast past me and shower me with what seemed like pounds of rocks and sand. Sure was fun. Loved every second.

HI DAN,

VERY NICE COBRA! PLEASE DON'T CHANGE A THING! HOW MANY MILES DO YOU HAVE ON IT? I HOPE TO SEE YOU ON THE ROAD AGAIN. A PARKING LOT WOULD BE NICE. NEXT TIME I'LL HAVE MY CAMERA.

THANKS

I don't know the true miles. It has a mysterious disease that original Cobras tended to have during the 1970s and 1980s. Every time the car was put up for sale the odometer reading went down. I have some documentation from past owners like state inspections and titles that make me believe the car has between 50K and 60K miles on it.......Dan

Hey Ron,

Dan needs one of those "Original Shelby Owner" icon's next to his name.
