Autometer Guages
I just reopened the auto meter Smith replica guages I bought nearly a year ago ,and low and behold the oil and water temp read in celcius, however you spell it,someone PLEASE tell me this isnt the norm and I was shipped the wrong guages by mistake,,
thanks,,Tim K. |
Supposed to ne That Way
I also use Autometers. All temps read Celsius. Remember, the Smith's are British where Celsius is used. Therefore, replica Smith gauges will also be Celsius.
No mistake, they're supposed to be like that. Hope this helps, |
Nope, they're correct. Celsius is how mine read also. Just remember 9/5C + 32= F, do some math while driving down the road and you'll be fine:)

I just installed several AM's in my 1974 Scout 4 x 4
(which I am turning into a safari type rig) and the water temp gauge is in fahrenheit ! But it's just a standard autometer gauge.. which are excellent quality

umm,,
thanks guys,I suppose I can make a couple marks on the glass until I get used to the read,I hadnt even noticed until now,I suppose the new smiths are metric as well.. Thanks Again Tim |
Tim:
In Celcius 0 degrees is the freezing point of water (32 deg. F) and 100 deg. is the boiling point (220 deg. F). DonC |
Tim,
I got the AM setup with my Unique but it's not on the road yet.I just went and looked in my Cobra parts bedroom (I'm not married) at my dash and, much to my amazement, they're in Celsius too. I'm glad you brought this up so I can learn to do temp. conversion equations on my fingers and toes before I get out there. Bill Stradtner |
