I recall the time when the drag-bikes were invitied to run at the UK's oldest race event, the Brighton Speed Trials, circa 1970. The first bike blasted off, turned sharp left and slammed into one of the ornate metal pillars that line the seafront. He died. Then they wheeled out the top rail dragsters! First (and last) time I will ever see a car blast down a half-mile strip without making contact with the track surface. Well, at about five brief points, but the spaces between each skid mark told the story. i think the unfortunate 'driver' spent the next hour in the bathroom.....they never came back. (p.s. Tom, spent a few hours on Friday photographing your wonderful products!! The FIA just looks better every time I see it. I want one to hang on my wall!) Cheers Trevor |
