I never knew how fast this thing was!!
Yesterday after a car show, my father and I decided to finally find out whose car is faster. I thought it was his, and so did he. He has a '99 vette, but it's like no vette I've ever seen or driven. Engine/drivetrain done by Mallet. Stroker motor/supercharger - 720hp dyno'd, mini-tubbed rearend with 335's. Long story short, everything custom, car tested before delivery at Indy speedway....10.80's in the quarter and a top speed of....are you ready? 226mph. 180K gets you a lot.
So we found a quiet length of road and did some rolling starts side by side. It wasn't close!!! I pulled on him in every gear NO NOS, never turned it on!!! Sure if we wanted to run 150mph and up he'd get me, but who races like that? NOT ME! The only person more shocked than me was my father, who has been on the phone all morning with Chuck Mallet designing a new engine....a supercharged 427 or something. BTW - Chuck Mallet ask him two questions about my car. Was it a big block and was it a superformance? He said the SPF was as serious of a car as there is out there. He had seen a few during the One Lap of America and had great respect for them. Maybe next time I'll have to turn the NOS on.... |

Spoony,
Ain't it great! Tell your Dad, if he wants to beat you he'l have to add some "lightness". Pull some of those windows out of the Vette or something. I had a similar experience with a friend here at the office. His '92 Vette has a new Mega-buck engine. It makes so much power that his transmissions blow up regularly. I ran him with my "smog" carburetor and left him a couple of car lengths behind. I offered to let him try again with my new Holley, but he's not up for it. Too Bad! Paul |
I bet he's pretty pissed. You should be more pissed. He blew 180k (of your inheritance) on a vette????

Micheal, That's what I'm talkin' about. Old bastard!! *L*
