Bryan,

Do you have any good pictures of the hood on that car?

Thanks, Brian

Rick and Jeff,

Thanks for the great pictures. That is certainly a unique hood!

Every time I see pics of that car, I notice a 1/2 to 3/4 inch hole in the top of each of the carb inlet blower adapter pieces (whetever they're called). In one photo somewhere I saw they had a piece of masking tape over them.

What are those holes?

cobrajeff 05-25-2004 03:24 PM

Those holes are vents. They close when the engine is running, open when it is shut down, allowing fuel vapors to dissipate (providing fresh air to mix with the fuel for the next start-up).

Thanks Cobrajeff. Makes sense for purpose. However it brings up a couple of other questions:

Is the vent mechanism closed by boost pressure? Does this setup have boost at idle or are the vents open then? If they are open at idle, is there no concern regarding unfiltered air into the engine?

Also, I don't see this vent on most more modern thru-carb boost systems. How do the newer setups get away without this functionality? or was this never really required and Shelby just put it on for good measure?

Just wondering...

Man, that is some cool stuff.... any unique stuff like that, someone please post them...
