Passenger side mirror.
Hi everyone.
Is anyone running a passenger side mirror? If so what brand and where did you get it? Are you glad you installed it? Many thanks. Ps. Brent, could you contact Ray Sweers at Ray@positroncorp.com He is having major difficultys in registering for this site. |

From previous posts it seems that the standard bullet mirror mounted on the passenger side, to the same mounting location as on the driver's side, is difficult to see and/or doesn't provide much vision. Some folds have used the stick on convex lenses to improve the field of view of both the passenger and driver's side mirrors. In my case I'm having ERA hold off on mounting even the driver's side mirror until I get back there to do the acceptance inspection on the finished car so I can evaluate both it's location and if I want to go with a passenger side mirror. I may end up with the Ray Dot mirrors in both locations. DonC |

When I ordered my car I REALLY thought I wanted one, and had some quite lively discussion with Doug Reed about it. Per his suggestion, we held off on that decision untill I flew down for a visit. He picked me up & we drove all over New Orleans, and he pulled over on a freeway and told me to get behind the wheel. After getting the seat adjusted and all belted up, he told me to look at the passenger side mirror and tell him what I saw. The mirrir is about 70% blocked by the windshield, and all you can see in what is left is the right rear wheel flare of the fender. It is totally useless! I did as he suggested, and spent the money elsewhere, and I would suggest you do the same. John Russell SPF#586 |
I use Raydot mirrors with Enzo's (Finishline)windshield frame mountings. I had to elongate the adjustment slots in the mirror heads to get better angles but that is easy with a Dremmel tool or a rat tail file. I use the convex mirror on the passenger's side and get fairly good rearward visability.

Mike looks pretty but you'd have to be sitting in passenger seat to see anything behind you. The dash mirror is enough.

How did you attach the bracket to the windshield? Sheet metal screws or drill through and nuts and bolts??

Existing screw holes
You use the existing screw holes in the windshield frame. You'll need longer screws or, as suggested, you need to modify the screw holes.

I use the fender-mounted original-style mirrors on both sides. They both were useless until I got the stick-on convex mirrors; then they both are wonderful - I wouldn't leave home without them! I understand the original fender mirrors can be bought as convex so the stick-ons are not needed, but didn't hear of that until it was too late to trade up. If you already have the flat ones, just be sure to measure - you can get the convex stick-ons that exactly fit - they are 3-1/2" I think, but be sure to measure - I have four the wrong size :LOL: The convex work real well on the street and at the track too for point-bys. Don't let the testosterone-poisoned folks mislead you into eschewing mirrors, unless of course you are one of them :JEKYLHYDE Tom |
