What will CSX2011 sell for at auction?
CSX2011 will be auctioned during the Steel and Russo auction in Monterey on August 20th.
http://www.russoandsteele.com/index....onID=8&ID=5911 Make your guess as to what you think the car will sell for. This poll will end on August 14th. |
I hope whoever the lucky buyer is doesn`t tear it down & restore the hell out of it!

Very Early Shelby Works Prepared 260 Comp Cobra (CSX2011)
$1.500.000.00 all day long for 2011...
If Shelby said CSX2000 is a $10,000,000.00 Cobra on TV... then 2011 is a steal at $1.5m. Harry |

Hi folks - an update on CSX2011.
The car spent 3 weeks over at Panel Works in New Hampshire (Joe is a fantastic aluminum guy) being straightened and cleaned up. Some new skin on the nose and rear to bring the car back in line - it looks great! (As an aside - it is amazing how many of the panels are the original, most with some of the red paint the car went to Nassau in 1962 wearing under it all.) Will finish being painted in its 1964 Daytona colors - red, white and blue (see web site http://members.cox.net/csx2011/csx2011.htm or Friendman book) by tomorrow 8/12. Russo and Steele and the cars web site should have the new pictures by this weekend. Just to be clear however, anyone who was to do a complete restoration on this competition gem needs to have their head examined... which is why we have not. We have taken great pains and done extensive research to ensure that the work that was done has the car looking as close as possible to how it did when it arrive in Daytona in 1964. Look for my father Ron in Monterey as he drove 2011 competitively in the mid 60's and can tell, or at least make up some great stories about the car and the racing back then:) My profile has poor quality picture taken earlier this week with my phone with the base white color on in the paint booth FYI. Here is a pic of the car after a really wonderful repaint (No! It hasn't been "restored"!) Anyone want to change their mind about what it will bring?

CSX2011 - My last word
:) FYI, CSX2011 sold in March of 2007 for a seven figure amount. The new owner intends to vintage race the car so we will probably see it again soon. I to hope that he doesn't "restore" it. I have seen the other two of the Nassau 62 cars in the past weeks. They are both highly "restored" so CSX2011 is truly the only "original" early Shelby Cobra race car. RMW

I talked to the new owner shortly after he bought it and said he was only planning a mechanical restore to get it ready to put on the track.
Hoping to see it at Coronado this year. |
T Junk. . . Thanks. Yea. . . Coronado would be gerat. What is the date this year? May try to get down with my son. He went last year. RMW

My guess is 3 million.

I loved seeing this car at SAAC-31, in my eyes, beautiful as it sits, a testament to the owner (real nice guy!) for keeping it as 'REAL' as possible....

Functionality was what it was all about for these racers. |
Wow... Nice Pics !!!
