Picture of a windshield-mount Raydot?

Anyone got one they can post? I'm looking to make a mount as I'm not wanting to spend $20.00+ for a flat piece of aluminum.

Thanks.

Jamo,

Mirror from Motorsports Intl?

Jamo 10-05-2006 10:16 AM

Yup. Make double-doggone sure they know whether the mirror(s) is for left, right or center mount before they use the dye. Sounds obvious, I know...but folks will surprise you.

bnewell 10-05-2006 10:23 AM

do you have a part # or website for them??

thanks,

Nothing there but contact info...ask for their parts binder. Pretty extensive. Just ask for the Raydyot mirrors. They used to require that you buy their mount as well. The Raydyot dye stamp is extra, but they are one of the few (if not the only?) ones licensed to use it in the US.

They also have a convex version for the middle mirror. Used to be Raydyot's own convex, which was perfect in that it tended to reduce headlight glare at night. However, I bought one for a friend a couple of years ago and it seemed like they had simply slapped in a Pep Boys convex into the body, which did NOT cut down glare at night.

Hope this helps in you seeing what's behind you...

Thanks Jamo!!

Thanks Guys.

OK, here's mine. I figured I couldn't let you guys have all the fun. I cut mine from a sheet of .125 aluminum after making a template. You will have to carefully countersink the holes for the screws that also mount the windshield. You will need slightly longer screws but do be careful that the screws are not too long or you could break your windshield. Of note is the fact that on the passenger side I had to end up bending the mounting bracket around 30* in order to get the mirror angled correctly so I could sight down the passenger side of the car. See the photos below.

Of course, you could just follow Raul Julia's advice as "Franco" in the movie Gumball Rally just before the start of the race:

"And now my friend, the first-a rule of Italian driving."

[Franco rips off his rear-view mirror and throws it out of the car]

Franco: "What's-a behind me is not important."

Just ordered a Raydyot mirror from Motorsports Int. including mounting bracket for $149. Seems pricely, but these guys appear to be the only folks who have the Raydyot logo on their mirrors.

Burgs 10-06-2006 07:59 PM

Just ordered the knobs,... Thanks Bret!

Thanks

If I mount a raydot on the wind screen, should I remove the 'factory' fendor one on my SPF? Would it look gay if I have two?
