value? investment? buy the car you want to have fun with and enjoy. The new GT500 has a nice new wow factor, but long term will tank.

According to most car collectors paying anything over list for a car still in production is not a good investment.
Let all the suckers overpay to be "first on the block" when the dealers get tired of looking at "collector cars" sitting on the floor prices will come down.

I'd rather have the Parnelli Jones Saleen.

I drove them both...

....and I bought the Shelby GT. My favorite original Shelby was the '66 GT350. No spoiler, no supercharger, and converted at Shelby American...just like the Shelby GT. The car has a great roar when you step on the gas and a cool Hurst short throw shifter. Ford racing springs/shocks/roll bars are a bit stiff on rough roads but the car has tremendous grip without the nosedive and body roll of the GT500. It hauls ass but the GT500 is much quicker. I chose the Shelby GT over the GT500 to go with my Ford GT and 427 Kirkham. I have 2000 miles on it and LOVE the car. Shelby GT's get a Shelby CSM#plate on the dash and under the hood and they go into the Shelby registry. Mine is # CSM07SGT0582. Here's a photo of my Shelby trio.

That is quite a toybox you have there... can I come over and play at your house?

Would Shelby install a supercharger from Ford Racing on a GT, that way it would still have the warranty, have about 420HP, and still be Shelby Factory Built?

Any thoughts on this?

Evan:
Wait and try to get your hands on the GT-500KR SuperSnake. Then you'll have a car which has been modded by Shelby, plus the best performing of all the new Shelby Mustangs. It will also be the most limited. Combine all of the above factors and you willl no doubt have the most valuable version on down the road.
