Need info. Florida Insurance
Hello All,
I would like to know what insurance company many of you are using in FL. I contacted my current insurance company which is Ameriprise and they do not cover replicas. I also tried Progressive but the agent did not seem to knownlegable on the subject. Thanks |
I have mine insured with progressive. I just gave them the info that's on the title and we use an agreed value.
I've had it with them for almost 3 years now. Did you call Progressive directly or did you go through and agent? |
I went through and agent. Maybe thats the problem.
Do you have any restrictions on your policy ie. mileage |
I did not use an agent. I have no mileage limitations.

Doesn't matter where you live. . .

Skysmith Insurance
Priobe:
Speak with Scott Smith of SkySmith Insurance http://www.skysmith.com/. They beat everybody's price by a few hundred $ and seemed like a nice company to deal with. John |
If you are an old fart, try AARP / Harford. I added my ERA to my policy with no problemmo. After nearly 20 years with that lizard company, I changed to AARP and my premium dropped nearly 45% per year. :D I insure my new Ford Sport Trac (AKA the official Cobra tow vehicle), my Isuzu Vehi-Cross (amazingly cool, collectible SUV) and the Cobra for just under $1,800 gazoutas per year. They also say they will add my Lotus Turbo Esprit with no problems (currently undergoing a makeover :D )

Gatorac,
Progressive wanted $2000.00 per yer. Thats pretty steep. I will check with the others. Still going down the list Thans Guys for the feed back. I will let you know the out come. |
Can someone tell me what would be the average mileage you guys put on your cars per year?
I am thinking 2500 is pretty low but then again I have not driven my car yet. |
Try "CLASSIC COLLECTORS" 800 252-5233. I had my Unique FIA insured with them with a $45,000 valuation and the policy was $600.00 per year with 5000 mile limitation annually. And that is for Miami - which is generally very high. RD

state farm. $700 per year. No restrictions.
|
State Farm quoted me $1500 per year with a maximum of 1500 miles. For a Unique FIA with a 302, garaged in Miami, FL. two years ago.

State farm seems to be all over the map, everyone having a different experience on rates and policy restrictions. I was with State Farm for over twenty years until I needed to insure the Cobra and was told they had a limit of 35k on the value of a replica, which was too low for me. I was with ANPAC for the first year, and their "chrome" policy was very good and reasonably priced, but the second year they did away with their agent system, and I wanted an agent rather than deal with the company directly, so I switched to Midwest Classic, mentioned by rsimoes above. Great service from Robbin Terry, everything done via email, fax, and phone. He only insures speciality vehicles like ours, hot rods, customs, etc. He knows his stuff, and our stuff. Rates were very good with the usual restrictions, ie: 5000 miles per year, no regular daily driving to work, pleasure driving and cruising ok.
When I was shopping for insurance it became apparent that policies seemed to vary greatly depending on several factors, such as location, agent, driver's record, things like that. Members here post about having insurance with companies that told me they won't insure a Cobra replica. No particular reason given, just company policy, yet other Cobra owners have their insurance with those same companies. I wasted a lot of time hearing that until I talked to Robbin Terry. My advice, bottom line, is don't waste time talking to agents or clerks who don't know or care what a Cobra replica is. Bumpster |
Grundy, $150 per year, no deductable
I have been using Grundy for years, they do agreed value, I told them 25K and the bill is less than $150 per year and they let you drive it. However it cant be your daily driver. They also insure my 1952 F1 Truck, bill for both is less than $300 per year.
