The 70 being a SCJ is pretty rare. They made 975 only. There were about 4,000 total cj and scj's combine but the scj's are rare. Still it makes sense to drive a car that you have fun with. I have a 2003 Cobra and my cougar has a vette rear and a jag front. So it should handle well when it's done. This will always drive like a boat unless i spend a few thousand with a total control suspension. it is also a fair weather car i can't see driving it except on good days.

Decisions,decisions!!!
I bought my 1969 Boss 429 new and after 16000 miles parked it in 1972.
To make a long story short,it underwent a makeover in 2004 and recieved Baer 4 wheel discs, and a Total Control power rack and pinion. The rest of the suspension is stock or NOS with KYB gas shocks,17in Billet Magnums and BFG KWDS Radials.
What a difference!!!!! Night and day,the only problem is that it is so much fun to drive I keep racking up miles.
Everything could be changed back, but I doubt I'll ever do it.
Now I just have to find the funds for a Cobra so I can keep the mileage down on the Boss.

I would sell the car, and buy the KMP. I doesn't sound like the car does it for you anymore, so it's time to move on. You could put a buttload of money into it trying to make it more user friendly, but in the end you still may not be happy.
Also, think of it this way... While the value of the Mustang will continue to go up, the health of car will continue to go down. It may be nice now, but years down the line you'll get rust come through the body again, not to mention what happens to floor pans over time.
Glass or alloy, Cobras don't rust. Get yourself the Cobra, and enjoy it for the rest of your life.

What Sal said.
If you DO sell the SCJ Stang and buy the Kirkham, you should still see a bunch of money when (and IF) you sell the Kirkham, and you can always buy another SCJ Stang.
I would have to say "Life is short" and "You never know what the future holds", so sell the SCJ that you really dont care for right now, and buy the Kirkham. I abso-fricken-lutely LOVE driving my fiberglass Cobra, as I imagine ALL the people on this thread LOVE driving theirs as well.
Sell the SCJ, buy the Kirkham, drive it for a few years, and see what you want to do then.
It's only money.

I don't care that my SCJ drives like a boat. It's a great looking car, has back seats for the kids, and has decent power. I'm keeping mine.
It all boils down to do what makes you happy.

Not if there was only 975 of them made.
Think about it... How many of the 975 SCJ do you think are left.
The SCJ definetly is rarer than an aluminum body Kirkham unless you were lucky enough to buy the Copper body Kirkham then it would be worth it.

Just what is the production count of Kirkhams? Is anyone keeping track?
I'd say sell it because it doesn't sound like you're into it anymore, if you ever were into it more than as an investment. Sell it now while there are still guys with money and working memories. Wait, and you'll have only museums interested.
Definitely take a ride, try a Cobra on. Make sure it fits. Do NOT believe these guys who'll tell you that anyone can fit in one. I went to a Cobra club meeting and believe me, it is not a big guy club. Maybe you can fit in the car, but you won't fit in.

I think riding in one is a good idea. I gotta find a local club. Before i sell the Stang i need to see what a Cobra is like besides looking at it. I did buy my 2003 cobra SVT vert without driving in or riding in one but i think that was different. I love that car I'm keeping the 03. It's nice to have a/c leather and a cd changer. Speaking of never stuff anyone see the new factory five supercar?

Kirkham all the way.
Very rare, only 500 or so total.
Very light weight, only 2000 lbs or so.
Extemely good people to deal with.
Open car a lot of fun compared to a sedan.
The real questions are choices on the Kirkham:
1. Paint or polish?
2. SB or BB?
3. Carb, Webers, or Mass Flo EFI?
4. 427 S/C or FIA?
Anyway, thanks for letting us voice OUR preferences; we are all a little different.
