spinners alum. VS stainless steel

after breaking the 3 wings off my spinner trying to get them loose, want
to buy 4 new ones. Hillbank is selling the stainless steel ones for $548. that is for set of four. Vintage wheels has the alumn. for $220 polished.
Is the SS much stronger? dont want to run in to same problem again specially if I'm stuck on the road somewhere.

stainless is stronger but dont they make a wrench for the spinners ?

I forgot but you might find it via a search, but there was a post some time back with a picture of a wrench for spinners in it. You might even check the Finish Line site as they may have them.

I've read some of the posts from the guys that have the wrench that finishline sells. They weren't too happy with it. In terms of tightening them. Man I spent 4 hours banging on them trying to take them off, tottaly sucked

Try Accurate Machine Products in La. George Petrus sells stainless unpolished for 75.00 each.
If you remove the spinners every year and re lube them with anti-sieze you will never have a problem with stainless or alum.

After breaking the ears on my original spinners, I went to Trigo's SS spinners several years ago and have never looked back.

They look better and there is no potential for damage (unless you hit your fender with the lead hammer  )

I tried the "tool" and a 6' breaker bar, etc.................... ears just broke off.

Good luck!!

I bought a set of SS right before Lynn Park sold Trigo. They're heavier, but WAY more durable. I've even used a steel hammer in a pinch & they did'nt show a bit of abuse.
Also - don't forget that dab of anti-sieze.

Yes, That's an original Cobra (CSX 2085) and yes, they are aluminum spinners. He couldn't find the lead hammer in the drawer where it belonged. The plastic mallet just bounced off them, so he moved up to the ball peen hammer. And yes, it left scars on the spinners!
