Big LETTERED Tires-DOT

I know the large lettered tires are not DOT approved. However, they look real nice on the cobra. My question to anyone that is using them, how do they ride/drive? I want to get a set, BUT, I do not want something that handles 'squirley' on the road.

Sorry for all the questions, but I am learning. Thanks.

If you research this site, you'll find answers to your questions.

In short there are draw backs to the Big Letter Goodyears. Race rubber, heat cycle issues, warming them up, non DOT, bias ply, etc.

BF Goodrich are junk for performance and balance

The new Avons are awesome! They come in the right sizes and are DOT approved, are V speed rated, but will probably only last 6000 to 8000 miles, as they are very soft and carry a "teadwear" of 80. They are pricey too.

If you run a non-DOT tire, you may want to find out if your insurance is voided...
