Is anyone going to be at LeMans 2007?
This may be a funny question. Is anyone going to the LeMans race this year?
I am going to be in England on business that week and I was thinking about hoping over to France for the weekend to take in several hours of the race. Being a non-french speaker, I thought it would be great to pair up with a fellow Cobra enthusiast. You can bet I am going to wear all the Cobra clothing that I have to remind them of the Ford & Shelby's glory days. Kurt |
Well Kurt i'll be tivo'ing it. Will look out for ya. Would love to be able to go the that race once in my life.
Wave if you see a camera pointed at ya. Have fun. |
Le Mans 2007
I would suggest that you post the same question at the UK Cobra Club Website, www.cobraclub.com or at another UK site for car enthusiasts www.pistonheads.com which has a dedicated Le Mans forum.
There's well over 60,000 UK car enthusiasts who go over to Le Mans every year so you won't feel lonely or be the only one speaking English, and there will be many Cobra's going over too. Get in quickly and you may blag a lift over there in something interesting. For the more Cobra orientated Le Mans enthusiast, its generally thought that the Le Mans Classic held every two years (next meeting will be in 2008), is the more refined and enjoyable. Watching proper classic racers from pre war up to the 70's , being driven as intended, far smaller crowds, lots better atmosphere, and a chance to see the classic Cobra/ Ferrari/ Daytona/ Corvette wars relived in the French sunshine surrounded by fellow Cobra enthusiasts within easy staggering distance of a cold beer and a hot BBQ. The toilets though are to be avoided. By the third day they are like the battlefield of the Somme, though with a worse stench, more disease and more death !! Cheers, Tony |
I won't be going to LeMans but I will be going to the Canadian Grand prix this weekend in Montreal.
Sounds like the toilets are pretty much the same at all race tracks. My wife refuses to go near them. Wayne |
I checked over 30 hotels for a room and found none, you better bring a sleeping bag.
|
I posted on the UK Cobra Club and found a group going over.
They highly recommended camping so that you can take in the 24hr experiance and beer. I have to admit, my camping days are behind me. Looks like it is going to be a long weekend. Kurt |
Ice,
While you are there do me a favor and eye ball the hotels and let me know which ones are the best and closest to the course. So I can prepare for 2008. Mike |
Hi Guys,
A few of my friends have set out tonight heading off to Le Mans. They go every year and have a great time. They go to a campsite about 15 minutes drive away from all the action. The campsite is in the grounds of a stately home and looks great. From pictures they have shown me it attracts Ferrari,Ultima,Cobra type people.I've just ordered a Dax Tojeiro(cobra) chassis for August which should take about a year to build. Roll on Le Mans 2009,mind you I better open a savings account now for the petrol. Cheers John |
My old bones need a hotel, my camping days pasted by long ago.
|
Theres camp sights and then theres French type proper camp sites.I must admit though a room in the house would be perfect. As you probably no sometimes the weather there is not good.

I am told however that camping against the track is the best way to soak up the atmosphere, although rehanging a Cobra's underfloor exhaust, lying in a green fog emenating from the toilets at floor height like a vile smelling poison cloud ( hows that for an atmosphere) , in over 30 degrees celcius of heat, certainly reaffirmed my wish never to go within 200 metres of a camp site "dunny" ever again. Cheers, Tony |
