HELP!-Getting Fuel Pressure Regulator Bolts Out/In?
Engine is stock '88 302.
With the heater pipes and wiring in the way, it was next to impossible to get the little bolts that screw in from the underside of the fuel pressure regulator out; and I don't see any way to get at least one of them started when I replace the regulator. I gave up in frustration last night. Surely someone has come up with a trick to getting these things in without going crazy. Does anyone know of an easier way to replace these bolts? Thanks in advance for any input. |
Take the rail off.

Buy a cheap set of allen wrenches, find the size you need and cut and bend so it clears the heater pipes.
It took one hour to replace mine stock FPR to a Kirban. |
Thanks, guys. I used a combination of your rewcommendations.
I removed the rear fuel rail bolt and popped it up about 1/4". Enough to get up under there a little bit. Then a bought a couple 5/32" hex wrenches and a 1/4" drive 5/32" socket and with some cutting and gluing and bending I made a couple custom tools. Thanks for the suggestions. They gave me the ideas for the fix. |
