Cracked Windshield. What will fit?

My windshield got cracked and I need a new one. The frame is flat on the sides and it looks like the chrome rim around the glass comes out with the windshield. It looks like when I take the glass out the only thing left will be two chrome flat bars sticking up (curved at the top), one on each side. Are all the windshields the same?

Thanks

Since they are no longer, I think anyway, some research into what they were patterned after might point you in the right direction. You didn't post a picture, but I recall some earlier (Arntz/Butler would have to fall into that) Cobra replicas that used an MGB screen I believe. You might post this in the Butler/Arntz forum.

I suggest you buy a piece of Lexan and cut out a windshield on a band saw. No more worries about cracked windshields. I finally did that after two broke on me. 12 years later, still have same windshield that works great. there is a recent thread on this topic to give you specifics to buy.

You can use some scratch resistant Lexan which can be cut with a sabre saw. Use your old windshield to trace out the pattern. The chrome frame should unbolt and come apart easily. Use WD40 or something similar if the frame and rubber gasket want to stick. Be gentle. Use Rain-X rather than windshield wipers if you get stuck in the rain. I've read that the scratch resistant Lexan is pretty impervious but I'd be careful. Hope these ideas help.
