Great car. Great that your father has kept it all of these years. I bought my 1965 GT350 in 1971 at age 18 and still have it.

csx3050 06-13-2007 03:12 PM

thats awesome! keep it! all they will do is aquire value!! feels kinda good to know you have a car just making you money while its sitting in the garage!

CowtownCobra 06-13-2007 04:14 PM

Wow! Of all the places to find an original S/C, and a rather unique car at that, Fort Stockton TX.... That car is a time capsule, DON'T change or restore anything.

olddog 06-13-2007 04:32 PM

Thanks for sharing.

Call me paronoid, but I wouldn't post any pictures on the net that would allow some evil doer to figure out where the car is. Be sure that any outside pictures do not have a mailbox with an address or a street name in the back ground. Otherwise please keep the pictures coming. Like under car shots as well.

Well I know of at least one replica with the bolt on sidepipes, mine! Makes for a quick change to the 'shorties' at the track, long pipes for coming home.

Thanks for bringing the car to Club Cobra. It's nice to see cars that haven't been seen in a while.

The registry does indicate that the car was re-painted after a cross country run in '72 when the motor was rebuilt. Is the registry incorrect?

Hood

All S/C's were all like that

Hood

If it were any bigger than the hood scoop would have to be bigger to cover it.
Kit cars can use any hood scoop they want.
The originals all came the same way unless there were some mods by the owner. If you look at the old pics of the comp cars at Shelby in the airport lot from 1965, you'll see the same.
Remember the ad in the for the creme that if rubbed on your D__K it would make it bigger? Then wouldn't your hand get bigger too?
Same theory..

Ibr8k4vetts 06-13-2007 09:07 PM

Ok..I suck! the one at Otis Channelers (sp) did not look like that if my memory serves, but my memory has failed me before!

CSX 4027 06-13-2007 09:13 PM

Memory

It's probably not your memory, it's the car. Chandler had 3281 which was a street car conveted to S/C mods. Since it never came with a hood scoop, who knows what was done. Unless he had a real S/C besides, I have no idea. I'd have to see a pic.

Ibr8k4vetts 06-13-2007 09:17 PM

Do you know what happen to his car after they closed his museum?

CSX 4027 06-13-2007 09:20 PM

I really don't know

CSX3281 was a very modified street car by Rick Reese who used to work for Gordon Gimble at Cobra Performance.
I wonder where he is today?
