Dan, I never did get a piece of the "key-lime" pie! Now your trying to hurt me again! Nice Gen III setup! OK, move the shifter forward to the next pocket, bypass the "skip-shift", build the headers...................
I could do this again!

The Naples Cheese Cake Company has all kinds of Cheese cakes including Key Lime Pie. All Key Lime Pies must be shipped “Overnight Delivery” no matter what the destination.

Ed, looks like we have more than one thing in common. I own the still yet unused domain HotRodProject.com .....Not enough hours in the day Huh!

On the Gen 3 engines. They look like they have changed their block mount location. Its moved forward from center. I cant see but Im hoping they kept the old bosses back at the halfway point. The exhaust had changed to the center and Im hoping that they didnt move it forward soley for that reason. It stands to reason the farther forward you put the mounts past 1/2 way the more pressure you put on the trans mounts etc, along with a bigger chance for vibration to set in. Im going to go back to the Viper guys and see if they have heard the reasons for the change and if there's any affect on the Gen3s. There is no way I can see that the FE frame mounts could be used with this forward location on the Viper Gen3. It would make for one heck of a set back though. I wont have the engine/trans here for another week or so. Once its here it'l be easier to start the planning. Was your last DV a Gen3 and if so did you have to change the forward mounts on the block?
One thing I am experiencing is some remorse at cutting up the frame on this Hi Tech. The more I look at it the more I see how much these builders tried very hard to reproduce a legend. Its the closest thing Ive seen to the original yet. Its almost a shame to cut it up. I may just install the FE I was planning and have a new frame built for the Viper engine with the changes already done. (Remembering your advice to "Do it right")

Here's a twist...

I just was contacted by a Viper owner who is dropping a one-upped copy of my engine (EFI 385 Series Ford Big Block with a big centrifugal blower...) into his viper to replace his V10. He purchased a set of brackets and an intake elbow from me and is fabricating the rest from my plans. I modified the top plate on the blower bracket to allow the use of a larger procharger blower to help him meet his goals. He's planning on 1500hp.

And, when asked why he doesn't just build the V10, the response was "I've hated the way my Viper sounds since the day I bought it.". Wow.

So we're taking V10's and putting them in V8 cars...and they're doing the opposite. Crazy gear heads!

I Would Love To Know What Kind Of Tires He Used To Get That V-10 Cobra To Hook Up Like That To Twist That Pinion ??:)

Don't know why you'd want to put a Viper engine into a Cobra, why not just buy a Viper? But as has been noted, it's your car, your dream, your vision.

Someone else has an even more bastardized vision, putting a Viper intake on an FE:

At least you wouldn't have to worry about mounts and headers and such, and it would definitely be unique (even more unique than a Viper engine in a Cobra which from the sounds of things has been done to death :) )

Ahh Yes, the originalty crowd has shown up, Welcome aboard Commander. I bought my 1st 427 FE in 1968. Nuff Said.
