CSX3003 At local NJ cruise night

I had gone over to start my night at the Whiskey Cafe to do a fast walk thru of all the cars and bikes that are always there on a Sat night. What got me going was seeing CSX3003 sitting in the lot along with all the other cars there.I had only spoke with the owner breifly but since 1982 I think he said he has only put on like 1082 miles on it and has owned it since 1979. I had to walk back to it a few times to check it out as I am sure the chances of seeing a "real one" like this at a local cruise night like this are very slim . I dont really know why but I was very impressed or aw-stuck to see this car there as to go back to it to keep checking it out .Of course I did not have a camera with me I would have loved to get a bunch of pictures of this car. I had thought at one point that I saw Roscoe with his A&C come driving in but I could not find him when I went looking . Anyway was anyone else there to see CSX3003 . I guess I am going to have to learn to carry my camera at least in my car when I go to events like this .

Where in Jersey?

Roscoe 06-24-2007 08:43 AM

This was at the Whiskey Cafe in Lyndhurst. I happen to know the guy, he lives in Glen Rock. I used to be very good friends with the family and hung out with his brother many years ago.

I was talking to him last night about the car. He's owned it for about 30 years and has all the race history and ownership history documentation.

Here's some pics from another site:

And let me add that there were a ton of cars, several hundred, and many tattooed women.

Actually, it could have been the boardwalk at Keansburg or Seaside Heights.

Nice car.
Lots of questionable non period items/fiittings on it.
Too bad the original serial tag is gone and not on the footbox.

427PMS 06-24-2007 04:42 PM

There was a tag on the passengers foot box but I 'm guessing that from what I read that it is not the original tag . Does anyone know for sure?

CSX 4027 06-24-2007 04:48 PM

I was told by the owner(Howard) that it was removed by someone working on the car in California before he acquired it and the tag never made it back to the car and is, according to the owner, still hanging on the guys toolbox.
.........only what I was told............

This one's a little too new for the car...
...no biggee, though... the rest of the car is very nice.

Interesting oil cooler treatment, too.

Now there you have it - an original Cobra and a replica tag!

CSX 4027 06-24-2007 09:13 PM

Wrong oils lines as far as I am a aware. The tag should have been scribed with and electric pencil. Not stamped. And its not the right tag anyway. I could bring this car back to originality and make it a whole lot more valuable

In doing some research I found this pic from a french (go figure) car forum: http://www.forum-auto.com/automobile...181090-630.htm

I am the owner of the original CSX3003 and yes, I am missing the original plate, which is apparently on your replica. I believe yours was brought in in 1980 by Richard Buxbaum.

Can you please call me at 973-427-4600 or email me at: giantire@aol.com

Thanks,
Howard Landau
