invited to the Grassroots Mag VIR track Challenge

Got my invitation to bring my car up for the invitational Ultimate Track Car challenge at VIR on friday, 27 July. This is the first track challenge put on by the staff at Grassroots Magazine, they selected about 20 or so cars out of several hundred that put up "web sites" on a car profile site, where viewers could "hit" and post comments, my car stayed in the top 20, with lots of interest and comments. I also lobbied the magazine with several personal letters, packets of pictures, and such, and I guess they needed a full variety of cars for the challenge.

Some of the entrants will be formidable, like 600+ hp turbo Porsche's, mega-ponie Mitsu Evo's, monster 'Vettes, and an asssortment of other track-worthy cars. Since entrant cars may have have a "designated driver", i have arranged for a top flight professional driver to drive my car, as i am not good enough to run with the likes of some of these other entrant drivers and cars. Hopefully, my car in such hands as his will even the playing field a bit. My car is usually the most powerful car at the events i run, but at the Challenge, my car will be a relative lightweight at about 485 ponies. It needs to be well driven, hence the pro driver. Mine may be one of the few car arriving on its own wheels, and not in a trailer.

We shall see soon.

Thanks to those of you on this forum who assisted with their comments and "hits" on my web site for helping me get my car into a magazine. Hopefully, no DNF for me!

I will try to post a pic of my son in our car at Keshaw, he is a Boxster driver.

all the best,
