They used to have a couple of Camaros and Mustangs patrolling Hwy 17, but that's the only non standard cruisers I've seen in CA. Doug |
We still have some plain white Camaros and a Mustang or two in Northern Calif. plus the local cops had a Viper for a short time. I haven't seen the Mustangs for a while but I saw the Camaro with three cars pulled over a couple of days ago. No markings except the CHP logo on the doors and the light bar which is small. The local force had to get rid of the Viper as they couldn't afford the upkeep on it.

The Scotts Valley PD recreated their origial police cruiser, a 1967 Ford Galaxie Interceptor.

Does it really make a lot of sense to have these really fast police cars when the cops aren't allowed to get involved in high speed chases any more? :confused: Of course if they are vehicles that have been siezed during a drug raid, then I think it is a great idea. The younger officers have a ball with them late at night when there is no one around. :LOL:

A buddy of mine saw this 911 turbo cruiser on 101 in Nor Cal this past weekend. Said he nearly drove off the road in shock!
