Jag Rear

I have a Butler with a Jag rear end...dont know a thing about them...just wondering what kind of gear oil to run in this thing and do I need to run an additive of some sort?
I have a bit of a clunk happening from the rear end when decelerating ...not sure what it is but time to tear the rear end out and go over it I think

Look in the Capacities/Lubricants section of the free ERA manual.

The jag rear end is susceptable to the outer fulcrum rods wearing, which gives the hub a little play and hence a clunk. Also it can cause a shudder when pulling off and make the car pull one way when accelerating and the other when braking. You need to check all the universals as well which can also cause "clunking".I use a hypoid 90w and a limited slip additive (if you have an LSD" .Sometimes the big center nut on the axle will also come slightly loose (even with the pin) and may require a little shimming to get no play. Don't just tighten these!

I have noticed that there is a slight bit of play in the hub..ie the wheel has a little bit of in and out play. Wasnt quite sure why and/or how to fix it? I will be taking a lot better look here in a bit but was curious where to start
