Wonder how many Cobra owners visit Club Cobra
Of all the people around the country with Cobras, I wonder how many of them (%) visit or are members of Club Cobra?
|
Start counting, I'm one.

|
I'm Third then.

Per the Member List there are 17,257 members listed. Some may no longer be active though.

There seems to be a small discrepancy here between the Members List and the count on the Forum page. Really not that big though considering the amount that is listed. Ron :) |
The Deep South Cobra Club consists of 8 southern states and on my membership list for Florida which has always had the largest state membership we have 415 cobra owners or enthusiasts listed and about 100 names should be removed as those would no longer own or have any interest in Cobras. I say with everyone on my list it is only about ¼ of the actual Cobra owners in Florida at this time. Since at last years annual meeting to keep your self on our list you have to pay $25 annual dues I think by this years end we will be down to around 100 active members here in Florida.

if you go take a look at the members list, do a 'reverse sort' of posts, you will see hundreds of pages with zero or one or two POSTS. I bet there aren't 1000 members of the 17,000+ that are 'active'.
I've joined several forums where i'm not active. Doesn't mean you aren't interested, or don't have a cobra, but just not an active poster. Of 17,000, i bet 1/4 have a cobra or have had a cobra, 1/4 want a cobra, and the other half?? who knows?? :D K |
Consider this... thats already more then 17 times the number of members here than there were "real Original" Cobra's built.
But then I'm sure a number of people have joined more than once if they couldn't remember their user name or P-word or their email changed or they simply wanted a new user name. Still pretty impressive. BUT, I would say of the people I meet in my area with Cobra replica's (like a dozen or so) maybe a third haven't been here. Of the original Cobra owners (and there are a number of them) only one or two have been here, and thats only after they have been alerted to discussions about their car. |
Kristen makes a good point too. I have joined a number of forums to make one or two posts, usually after meeting people at an event and wanting to say hi or share pictures from the event with them.

The other side of this would be to know how many Cobras are there in existance. It would be cool to see a list by manufacturer of how many Cobras they have produced. Just add that up and you know how many of us there are out there. Then we would have a number to work with as a foundation to see what % may participate here based upon Kristens formulas
|
Ed,
Even that would only give us an idea of close to how many actually exist. I know of three just in this area which have been junked in the past years and no longer exist, but would still show up on the manufacturers list as having been sold. About 6 years ago we had 10 to 15 cobras here and now I can only find about 5. But it would be interesting to know how many the manufacturers actually have sold. Ron :) |
"Junked" !!!!! Why would anyone do that unless they were in a wreck?? Junking a Cobra (replica) is like junking a 63 split window Corvette. Can't imagine that too many of them get junked ?????

Ed,
One of the three Cobras that was junked here was never safe enough to get registered. The guy that built it is like me and has no mechanical ability. So he salvaged the running gear and busted the body up and sold the rest to a salvage yard. Another one of them was wrecked but could have been repaired and the other was smashed when the guy and his wife got a divorce. It was a pretty nice one too, and I thought they could have sold it and split the money but he took a big sledge hammer to it and when he was finished it took three days to pick up all the splinters and pieces. And his remark was, "I guess I showed her." As for the rest that have vanished I have only managed to find out about one and it was sold to some person in Oregon. I am sure the rest were just sold but the people that owned them never show up at any of the meeting places any more and no one seems to know anything about them. Ron  |
For comparison purposes, from the FFR Forum:
" We serve between 2 and 3 million page views per month. Well over 38,000 unique visitors come to the site each month." CT has approx 325 " Composites " registered which includes all types of kit cars and replicas |
