Question of the day (gears)
Just got my cobra has 2.75 gears it has a little worked 302 with a c4 trans
Thinking about going with 3.55 gears what do you think?? |
I'm running 3.55 with 15" wheels and Goodrich TA's. Toploader box that has a 1:1 topgear. Engine runs at 2650rpm at 60mph/100kph.
The first gear is ideal in traffic. The c4 would obviously handle the ratio and you may need to look at the torque converter and what the stall is. **)...**) The lighter right foot would see little or no wheel spin, but you would need to watch accelerating in anger as you may end up with consirerable wheel spin. As a novice here, I'm basing this on my '66 Mustang that has exactly your set up with 3.55 centre, the converter was a 2500rpm stall. I'm sure if you place more details on tire/tyre size, converter details etc. you will get a more informed answer. %/ In the interim my $0.02 cents worth..:3DSMILE: |
Hi
Have 255 tires with 1900 stall |
A 355 would probably be a little steep without a overdrive--you'll be turning a lot of rpm on the road and it will be loud
Drive the car for a while--you'll probably like what you have Jerry |
