Shifter boot ideas?

My TKO, middle position shifter sticks up out of the tunnel and when I put the normal 5" shfter ring over the boot, it looks dorky. Kinda like so many women these days who are 40 pounds overweight with low-waisted pants on that are too small - you get the idea:eek: .

Any leads on maybe a 6- or 7-inch shifter ring?

Brian,

I am not so sure about ordering one, but if you have a machine shop close by have them machine you one out of nice aluminum one or a stainless steel one. I had one made from stainless and polished and it looked great. The cheap 5" aluminum one that came with my boot was so thin that just barely tightening the screws made it want to bend.

Brian, you've been hanging out at Walmart at the Orange Mall again, huh?

Go to Shore Metals. They have to have some steel rings/retainers that you can weld up the holes on, re-drill, sand and then have it chromed. Or maybe a shop that sells industrial plumbing supplies? I know you're too cheap (and skilled) to just have a machine shop do it. :p

Take a 8" X 8" X 1/4" or 3/8" thick piece of steel, or stainless. Bore a hole in the center and have it spun in a lathe and cut whatever sort of ring you want.
Not a big job.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm all over it. The Schorr(surplus) Metals idea sounds like me.
