Help identifying this expansion tank
 
I've been around Chevies most of my life. Since my Cobra build started, I'm learning more about Ford powerplants. I'm looking for a little more Ford knowledge.

I came across an expansion tank with a tag on it that reads "SB Ford FE Expansion Tank". Was it mislabled, is there such a thing (SB FE Expansion Tank) or are they all FE Expansion Tanks. Will one fit all FE engines?%/

I think I know the answers, but would like to find out from those here on the forum. I have some pictures of it in my gallery, there is a number on the bottom of the bracket that reads C1AE-8A080-A.

Its in good shape & I know I can't use it on my 289.

That is not an FE surge tank. It is for a 292/312 Y block.
Notice the bolt pattern and the bottom opening is the by-pass port.

Thanks for helping me out with this little mystery, Tony.

Now all I have to do is decide what to do with this tank.

If it's in sound condition it could be useful reconfigured a little.

No problem. Glad I could help. FE is probably Ford Edsel.

I would put it on Ebay. Somebody somewhere needs it for a restoration.
If it is a rare as it looks I would think it would go for $500.00.
61 Galaxies came with a 292 Y block as an engine option.

"Y" Blocks are a thing of beauty! I could slap the local bow tie guys and cook dinner on the exhaust manifold at the same time. Sure wish I had that car today!
