Scam Alert!!!!!!

I have been contacted twice now on an ad I have on this forum. The supposed buyer asks for a lot of personal information and wants to pay by courier. This is an Identity theft scam!!!! Please do not give out any personal information to these people. I have reported this to the FBI, but I doubt they will do much, so be on alert for these scammers. They contact people via e-mail and are usually in another country. Sometimes they use unsuspecting people in the USA to forward the information. Either way if you are not sure of the person, don;t give out your name, address or any other personal information.

Saw an interesting news report on Nigeria Universities. Seems cheating is a HUGE problem there, everyone does it. Gee, now who would thought such a thing could happen there...

Hi, I'm Prince Mogobuto and I'd like to buy your Cobra....NOT.

Actually, the Secret Service handles Nigerian scams.

Forward all cyber scams, frauds, etc to the FBI at the internet crime complaint center.

www.ic3.gov

This goes for any nigerian fraud emails you receive, eBay scams, etc

Sorry:

The U.S. Secret Service has instructed anyone in the US who has lost funds because of these scams to forward appropriate written documentation to:

U.S. Secret Service
Financial Crimes Division
950 H Street, NW,
Washington, DC 20001.
(202) 406-5850
Or send email using the Secret Service form or
direct to 419.fcd@usss.treas.gov

If you have received a letter, but have not lost any monies to this scheme, please fax a copy of that letter to (202) 406-5031.

If you are outside the United States, you should report it to your local authorities and send documention via fax to the U.S. Secret Service.

The IC3.gov page listed above is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FBI. They have an 'official' looking FBI document posted on their web site but it is NOT from the FBI at all. While they may be doing good work by FORWARDING your Internet Complaints to 'somebody' the site itself feels like a 'scam'!

I know UPS will not send any packages to Nigeria because there is so much fraud going on there. We all need to watch out for each other and keep this an honest site. Thanks for the info guys.
