Ok, Who Can Answer This One??????

I've received a lot of good advice & suggestions from the CC members since I joined up & I thank everyone for it!

So,,,,,, here's a tough one for you all.

I want to replace the fuel filler neck seal while I have the neck out. I bought the gas tank from a junk yard & had it cleaned & checked for leaks, etc....

The problem is that I lost the receipt & don't remember what year Mustang it was from. So, I don't know what seal it takes. This is what I did so far:

1. Had the number on the original seal looked up at the Ford dealer & they are not showing that number. The number on the seal is E3SC-9072AA.

2. Checked out a seal for a 82-84 Mustang, no good.

3. Checked out the following seals for later year (93 & up) Mustangs:
1. E1AZ-9072-B
2. F4ZZ-9072AA

No good, both are too big!

Maybe its from an older Mustang (79-81)? Who knows??

Any suggestions on where I should go from here? Maybe just install the old one & pray it doesn't leak??

I have some pictures (not the best)of the seal in my gallery.

Can anyone help me with this one??

Thanks,
Randy

Most Radiator shops also sell New gas tanks [re-manufactured to specs]
They have "O" ring kits available for all tanks in different sizes. Check out you local Rad shop and you should find what you need. They also have those "Hockey puck" formed rubber seals for the necks. [usually...]
Hope this helps..

freekintoad,

Never knew that. I'll check some radiator shops out & see what I can dig up!

Thanks.

Anybody else want to chime in?

Measure the inside diameter and the outside diameter and find something compatible, its not that unique a part.

Not a bad idea, I didn't think of that. Thanks.

The "S" in the first part of your number indicates that it is a Thunderbird part of 1983 vintage. It is not too different from the later ones because I have interchanged them. I would look for a 1983 T-bird/Cougar part since that's the part that you removed..
