I didn't know that anyone was offering the SVT 4.6 32V engine in a Cobra kit !!

I have an early (1979) BRA 289 Roadster kit with a Rover 4.6 V8 engine, plus a 1998 SVT Cobra convertible (with the 4.6 32V engine). Although the Rover / Buick engine is very good, the SVT engine is in a different league (330 hp instead of 240 hp, 22 mpg instead of 17 mpg, much more torque and revs. more freely) .... so I would love to put the SVT engine into my BRA 289 !!

I know hurricane can do the 4.6. Just tell them what engine/tranny you are using when you place your order. I was considering the 03/04 cobra motor and t56, but ended up going with a stroked 351 instead. Send Mike an email and he'll let you know what they can do.

I have this D&D EVO 5 chassis project for sale on Ebay right now.
It has a 4.6 DOHC with a custom stack system. Let me know if you need more info. Email me here: mjduell@frontiernet.net

I have seen several 4.6's in a BDR. But you would have to buy it as a roller.

That it DEFINITELY is! It's about like cramming a big block in there.

Rspears,

You might wish to look at the JBL touring roadster.

Touring Roadster

Talk to Larry Goins about the car. He will give you more details then you need.

(And yes, I did do the chassis design on this one as well and if you wish engineering details I can discuss them with you.)

I'm pretty sure Shell Valley had a cutaway car on display at London last year and I think this year too. It had a DOHC 4.6 Ford engine in it.

As mentioned earlier Hurricane has had a couple customers build them, and when I asked they were very confident that they could set me up.

Seven years ago I asked Superformance about putting a 4.6 in their car and the guy was a jerk about it. Acted like I was an idiot for asking. I think they have even seen the light now.

I think it all depends. Some states have rules like: you have to meet emissions for the year of the engine, or the car is titled by year of the engine. The 4.6 would really not be any harder to use than a fuel injected 302. HOWEVER, if you look into part prices you will find that parts are waaaay cheaper for a 302. The 4.6 definitely has it's benefits as well. Now, if you were comparing the 4.6 to a carb'd version of the 302, it will be waaay easier to put it all together. No wiring nightmares, no o2 sensors, etc. If I were gonna do Fuel injection... I'd go 4.6

Factory Fives new Mark III was made to a accommodate the newer engines in newer Mustangs, it being the donor car for their kits as 302 V8 donors are becoming harder to come bye.

I must admit if I used a winsor motor my car would be done by now,
but I wanted to do something a little different and I got hung up on the look of the heads on the dohc the motor really looks like a monster(even though it will be no more then 350 hp at around 425lbs)
I went with a sullivan intake and a 670 holly simliar set up to the jbl car but i'm using coil packs with a msd to drive it
This is the issues I have run in to:

Height-I'm not sure where the air cleaner is going to end up
Hoses-with the by-pass thermostat it adds to the rats nest
Starter-with the configuration of the frame a stock starter will not fit

As soon as I work out the starter issues the car will be ready to run(go cart)
