tilton pedals
I sat in a cobra that had tilton pedals with hydraulic throw out bearing. I found the clutch pedal hard to depress, like doing leg press. Is it normal or is it common with hydraulic clutches. The kit i plan to buy has tilton pedals that comes with it . Is it something i'm going to have to get use to. Compare to a mustang clutch it was almost twice as hard to depress. Was it unusual or it's the way it is. I thought hydraulic set-up would be easy. Thanks !

You can adjust the size of the master cylinder and get the correct pedal feel for you. If you decrease the size of the master cylinder vs. the slave cylinder, you get less pedal resistance, but the travel increases. Of course when you use a large master vs slave, the pedal resistance is high, but you don't have to push as hard.
There are a couple of factors that would make a clutch hard to push...probably the biggest factor is the master/slave sizes. When you start getting into 3000lb pressure plates (Long style and Borg & Beck style), they're hard to engage anyway. Hydraulic setups are easy....you just have to know how to set them up. I had the most luck with a Wilwood slave cylinder and a Wilwood 3/4" master cylinder. |
I've got the Tilton floor pedal set, 11" centerforce dual friction clutch and Tilton hydraulic throw out bearing (no slave). It's been in for over 25k miles. The pedal is as soft as a VW. Don't recall offhand what size master but I used Tiltons recommendation.

I've talked to my manufacturer and the concern has been addressed. Thanks for your comments. I will order this week and the fun will begin.
