contemporary classics
Just bought a Contemporary Classics Motors 427 s/c replica from 1997. I assume the company is long gone, as website is inactive Does anyone know anything about these cars, components etc? Car has a 460 c.i. with 4 speed and Jag rear end setup

Do a search on Contemporary and you'll get more information than you know what to do with.
BTW, congrats, Contemporary Classics are very nice cars and extremely well built from the ones I have seen up close. You will enjoy it I'm sure. |
Nice cars. I looked at a couple myself when shopping. One of my favorites.
There are many of them on this forum. Welcome. |
CC ID="1985 CSX' Jeff Gagnon has one.........he know all. Give him a PM.
|

Setarch,
Contemporary's are a really nice car. Unfortunately the company is long gone, but the cars are top notch. Definitely look up Jeff Gagnon, he's organized all of us Contemporary owners into a really helpful owners group. There's usually not a part you'll need that someone doesn't have laying around. Support is just a bit more challenging than for say an ERA or Kirkham owner, but the issues usually get resolved amongst ourselves through mutual support. By all means get in touch with Jeff, and if there's anything at all I can do to assist you, or you want more information about Contemporary, PM me and I'll send you my number to talk. Welcome!:) |
Welcome aboard. Look for Jeff in the members list. If you can't find him let us know here, he should be chiming in anytime now. I heard some rumors about what happened to the old CCX molds but there's still a few parts available through the CCX registry (thanks Jeff) and the network here. Peter Bayer and his buddy Chuck that had Contemporary still has Nisonger Equipment. They do the Smiths gauges for Cobras etc right next door to their old facility in Mamaroneck NY. I had him tour me through the facilities years ago. Post some pics in your gallery on here we want to see what you've got!

Everything that was left of the co. was bought by Dave and Mark Smith of Factory Five Racing a few years ago.

Setarch, I have a Contemporary. They are extremely fine cars. Probably as close to the original as anything on the road. The frames and running gear were pretty much copies of the CSX series. Jeff will be able to give you all the info you need. CCX 3209. What chasis number did you buy?
|
#CCX3.3925. Just off trailer, its my first replica. Needs ball joints and water pump leak repair, otherwise good to go. Thanks

Just asking, but is it black and have removable stickers all over it?

Hopefully this will save you having to ask. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/member.php?u=22813
If that doesn't work for you let us know here. |
Here I am!
Sorry, have had Russian visitors keeping me off line as of late. Contemporary Classic Owners group awaits! We will have you and another to join the group next week. The group is free so I update at lunch from work. You will have access to many with CCX, updates, build manuals, and anything CCX. |
Ah! Jeff lives! :)
|
Welcome to the Contemporary cult, setarch. Do sign up on Jeff's list and you too will be easily amused. I see that your machine was built just a little before mine, amongst the last of the line. All of our machines have a lot in common, and if you have any problems, someone in the group will probably have positive suggestions for you. Have fun! :D Rich
