Need Help with pricing my Cobra
Would like to get everyones opinion on pricing my cobra for sale to a friend. So i need realistic opinions on my CCX-34021. I'll attach build sheet with a picture on it. The cars paint is in great shape but has rock chips in normal spots. 5600 miles on it now and it was the last built 427 contemporary cobra. I'll be taking it over tomorrow to an airshow and some friends will be looking at it here local. They have an honor system there where whoever you buy a car from in the group, if you decide to sell, you must then offer back to original seller for same price if he wants it, 2nd a friend for no more then purchased and he also must agree to same terms. Pretty amazing cars in the group. They keep prices realistic so nobody ever gets negative in a purchase. Need help with Realistic pricing here.... any opinions and help appreciated. Keith in Florida

Really nice car. Lots of top quality parts. If I were in the market, I'd be willing to pay 45-50k for it.
Hope that helps. |
Be very careful with the test drive............see the Nor Cal breakfast post. That was a test drive. Good luck with the sale its a nice ride you have there.

Nice car...probably worth much more than you will get for it (I'd guess 60's +). Selling a car is a business deal. Don't do business with your friends, or they will probably not be your friends for long. With a car like this, someone is going to get the short end of it. After awhile it will nag you (or them) and there will be hard feelings. Take my word for it. There are many others who would like to own your Cobra. Be patient and your car will sell.

I have always avoided (like the plague) selling a car to a friend or family member. Whew, is THAT asking for trouble. So when I sold my Excal to a fellow I never met before, I took the check and 'spit the scene' post haste. He kept calling, nicely, wanting more info on the car, etc. Over the years we've become great friends, and I still get to drive the Excal on occasion! Go figure, maybe it's OK to sell a COBRA to a friend...?
Nah, I just got lucky. :D Really nice specs on the motor, sounds like the compression may be a bit to high for my taste. Not crazy about the solid roller lifter cam either, the rollers being subject to failure around 8 to 10K miles. Other than that the basic specs leave me drooling! Sure it's worth $60K, but finding a buyer at that price will be tough and the competition in that range is fierce. $50K or so is probably more realistic. The trans and rear gear choice is interesting, I like that a LOT. Hard to beat the look of dual fours. Whew, NICE ride! |
Phil Henny had one with just about the same specs that he was asking $60 K for. He sat on it for awhile and then he sold it for a bit less, but not by much. Contemporary Cobras are very well built cars and in good shape should bring a premium, especially with the 427 in it!

The Contemporary Cobra is the car that sold me on a replica Cobra. A friend of mine had one back in the eighties and it was then that I realized I could someday afford to buy/build one for myself. It took me awhile, (kids, divorce, college, etc.) but I'm there and my ERA is almost ready for the road.
Good luck selling that fine car. |
Sweet car!
Make sure to pass along owners group info to new owner. Lots of nice parts make up that car. Best of luck! :) |
sorry misread
