Death of Wally Parks
Received from SEMA, news that Wally Parks died today at 94 years old. Wally was the founder of NHRA and editor of many magazines on Hot Rodding for many years. I had the pleasure of meeting Wally in the mid sixties, he was a super guy. There is more info on SEMA web site.

I had the opportunity to meet/interview with Wally when I was seeking employment at NHRA around 12 years ago or so. Great guy...worshipped by everyone around that place - NHRA HQ, Glendora (FWIW, I turned down the job offer). We all have a HUGE debt of gratitude to pay Wally for what he did for organized drag racing.

What a great guy...he will be missed...
I was very lucky to meet him several years ago in CA in Oakland at the roadster show. He sat and bench raced with lots of people and was very gracious. I don't know why but he struck me as a humble man without much of an ego especially considering his influence on drag racing. More people should be as genuine as he was. We've lost another good person and he will be missed
