Need Advice - selling my Harley
Hey guys - I'm looking to sell my Harley and wondering where is the best venue to list this. I'm dreading dealing with the the general tire-kicker public but I gotta do it. With the wealth of information and knowledge on this forum I'm sure someone can give me some insight.
Here's some general info on the bike: I'm the original owner of this 2005 Road King Classic - FI (fuel injected). Like most harley's it's had several upgrades (all Harley parts except for the pipes and foot pegs) - oil pressure gauge, oil dipstick temp gauge, Vance & Hines Oval mufflers, H-D center mount Tach, Lay-down license plate, quick detach passenger backrest, misc. light lens changes, upgraded (expensive) highway pegs and last but NOT least - a factory installed (read warrantied by Harley) stage II big-bore kit. The bike currently has 1,680 total miles. Never been dropped - looks new (hell it is new). I just don't ride it! I'll even deliver the bike within reasonable driving distance. I sold two thruough the local paper - means tire kickers actually show up to your house. And sold two on Ebay. I didn't really have any problems with either venue. My only rule was, no test rides unless I'm holding all the cash in case they dropped it on the test ride or just didn't return. Either way I had my money.
Good luck. It's never fun selling a bike or car. |
Local paper and the Thrifty Nickel (American Classified) are usually the best way.
When I sold mine, I didn't allow any test rides. I took people for a ride. |
sell it true the dealer.
