Smiths Water Temp Gauge

Driving the other day my water temp gauge (OEM style)just up and quit. It only reads about 50C. The gentelman at Nisonger told me that it is almost certainly the capillary tube. Has anyone had to replace one of these?

The capillary tube is "integrated" into the gage mechanism. If the gage is not reading correctly, the whole assembly must be replaced or repaired.

Are you sure? beacues the guy from Nisonger who specalizes in smiths gauges just sold me the tube.

I believe it's a sealed system with ether inside. No idea how you would go about replacing it (the tube) But be sure to route the new line away form anything that could spark against it (SP wires, distributor, etc) Thats what probably zapped it and allowed the gas to leak out...
How old are your gauges? Maybe there is a newer design?

I was wrong and you were correct. The assembly comes with the gauge. As usual I did not listen carefully enough to the other person.
