Undercarriage Cleaning

Guys I have BDR #471 since march 15th. I finally have my two post lift working correctly. I had a apportunity to lift my car up last night and took a look under. I like to keep my car interior clean and also the body etc. The question that I have, is it normal to clean the Undercarriage? Where do we draw the line? I can actually see myself trying to do this over the winter. If anyone has done this before, how do you go about it? Do you touch up the rust spots with some type of Rustolium? Where is the obsession of these vehicle stops? Any suggestion about what I should do over the winter with my car up on the the lift when I want it to? Don't intent on keeping it up on the lift when not working on it. I was told that i could possibly do damage to the suspension with it suspended in the air like that.
Regards,
Dex...........

Dex,

When I had my Cobra I kept the undercarriage pretty clean as it makes it easy to spot any leaks and a lot nicer to work on. I just used a rattle can to touch up chips and stuff on the frame and rear end housing. But mine wasn't a show car by any means.

Buy yourself a can of POR 15. You can brush it on the rust spots and it will stay there, it is much thicker than rattle can. You can pick it up at eastwood.

They eastwood version of POR 15 comes in lots of different colors too, if your frame isn't black

Thanks for the info. The POR 15 is no longer available. They carry their own brand.

Clean the undercarriage? Oh yes. several times a year. touch up any marks, chips, and dings. I don't have a picture of the underside of my Cobra ( need to take one next time it is up in the air ) but I do have one of my Mustang. I have a bit of a problem!!! **)
