Kirkham Sightings
Went to the Good Guys Car Show in Pleasanton, CA yesterday and saw two Kirkhams. There was a constant crowd around them, but I managed to get a couple of good shots, but cant get them to download right now. I have a couple of questions though. The first one was a painted Kirkham. (Great paint job!) There were the numbers 477 in the red stripe on the left front fender. Could this be the cubic inches of the motor? The second one was a polished one. I heard people talking about and they said it had about 700 horsepower. Is this possible? Pretty cool.

I got the pix downloaded. Here are the cars I saw on Saturday.

700 hp is very doable. I have 630+ with a pretty standard Keith Craft motor.

Them boys making cams now?

Jamo,
Not yet, but just wait till you see what I have up my sleeve this time... The Skunk Works is not quiet. David :MECOOL: :MECOOL: :MECOOL: |
David, will it cost $100,000-$125,000? Only kidding.
|
RodKnock,
No, NO ONE knows what we are currently cooking up...except the customer and maybe a few customers who stumbled upon it. You would have had to have walked in on a CAD session to know what we are doing. I have, however, hinted at it for some time now. David :MECOOL: :MECOOL: :MECOOL: |
Self-cancelling turn signals?
|
Lew ~ heck with the turn signals........people pulling out in front of me keeps me on my toes. I would just like to see the wool floor mats that I ordered in 2006.
See ya, |
David, I hope you're not expecting me to pick up on any hints. Most everything goes over my head.
|
Gotta tell ya, I received a call from Joe @ Kirkham Motorsports today and my floor mats are being shipped tomorrow. I asked Joe how he would like to handle payment and he said that he would put an invoice in the box and to just send them a check!! Being a business owner myself, and knowing what I have seen in the past several years.......no way would I do that. On the other hand, cobra/car guys are typically a decent bunch of guys.
Joe, I was not trying to bust any balls over floor mats and it is probably my fault for not doing any follow up calls after I ordered them. Thanks for the customer support.......I appreciate it!! |
Joe's great! Top notch customer service.
|
Brian,
You are right. We have only had 3 bad guys (checks) over 13 years. Cobra guys are by and large a great bunch of guys. We got our money from all 3 thanks to some even greater members here on the site. As for busting balls, they are probably mine that need busting. I imagine any complaints around here with us have been a direct result of me being too buried and getting behind on things. Sometimes you think you can do everything and you just get swamped. Two weeks ago, I was feeling particularly frustrated and I asked Joe to take over sales along with various other assistant activities for me. Just last week I handed him a stack of papers that had been on my desk for longer than I care to admit. I told him to "Just take care of this." and he has. I'd be lost without him. Now, I am free to concentrate on the Skunk Works. Maybe the Coupe will now actually get off the ground--among other things. David :MECOOL: :MECOOL: :MECOOL: |
David,,,,good move promoting Joe. He knows his stuff and is a great asset to KMP........thanks Ron

David ~ I know exactly what you are saying........my mind set has been "if you want it done right...do it yourself". And although my business has trippled in the past several years, I still find myself trying to do it all.
If we want to keep our valuable customers, we need to delegate some of the responsibilities of the day to day operations.......if we do not, we stand to lose those customer's that have made our business's what they are today. If I could only clone myself........it would solve many problems;) ;) Take care and thank you for an awesome car, |
