Radial Tires for Transverse Leaf Cars

Anyone willing to offer advice on Tire Brand selection for flexible sidewall radial tires? They have been mentioned as best for Bristols and early Cobras. I was considering Parelli 215/70/15W's, which fill the wheel well nicely. Thanks!

Depending on the car, 215 may be a little tight in the rear when cornering. 205 would be better. Not familiar Pirelli specs but another choice is Michelin XWX's in 205/70/15.

I forgot to mention that I have flared wheel wells, and sway bars. I am presently capable of running 225/60D/15 Hoosier's on the front, and 245/60D/15's on the back without rubbing under hard cornering. Re-installing the sway bars made the difference.

Still think the 215's are too tight? Thanks, bob

215X70x15's are just about identical in overall width and height to the OEM bias ply tires the 289's came with.

You might want to look at the Avons

215/70R15 98V
225/65R15 99V
245/60R15 100V

Note: all of these Avon tires have the same diameter

For Michelin XWX tires:

They would not be the same as street 289's. They came with 7.35X15 Goodyear Power Cushion with a diameter of 25.48" or 6.50/6.70X15 Goodyear Blue Streak Sports Car Special with a diameter of 26.02"
A 185/70/15 or 195/70/15 would be closer to an original looking tire on a leaf spring 289.
