Dear clubcobra friends.....
...as just another member here, I would like to ask that some of you lighten up a little bit on the Moderators here. These guys are not PAID to do this, they volunteered - and, typically, about all you get out of it is a bunch of complaints.
I have posted a lot of pictures on this site - I like to think that some of them have helped some of the members in their builds, or in the appreciation of the glory days of Shelby American. I figured out a long time ago, that the smaller your pictures are, the MORE pictures you can post. There have already been a couple good suggestions here for re-sizing your pictures - I use the MS Picture Resizing Powertool myself, and it works well. Yes, it was tedious and time consuming when I went back to re-input some of my older pics that were huge (and I lost views and comments). But, in the long run, it has allowed me to post an even greater variety of pictures. Another thing to consider - when you upload a 1 or 2 meg picture to this site, you make yourself vulnerable to someone else on the internet to steal your picture and use it elsewhere (their website, bogus e-Bay auction, whatever). This has happened to me - nice historical pics I have posted here have been used by others - now, I don't mind somebody using my picture if they give me CREDIT for it, but, in most cases they don't. So I have begun using smaller pictures, and, for some of my better ones, I post a "copyright" tag across the photo somewhere. Please be a little more courteous to the folks who have volunteered their time and energy to help keep this site one of the very best on the 'net. regards, Jeff Burgy |
I have tried to be funny and polite with my questions/complaints. I hope nobody has taken offense at my posts! (ron and brent)
ignorance is definitely the name of the game here for me. sorry! K (i didn't know my pics were that big- i read all the posts on it, just didn't know) |

Of course, now as a typical end user here who read all of this thread (and your posts), I'll add the following to try and get you to understand things behind the scenes here in a way that you'll be able to follow and understand, so here we go.. Seeing that you are a car guy and not a computer techie, imagine if you will that each picture is a small compact car (think Pinto or Geo Metro here), and the bandwidth (that is what space and server resources are used each time one of your pictures is loaded on a web page, or downloaded to someone elses computer screen) is a one lane road surface. Now, imagine if you will your file size (600-1,500K large) as a Tractor Trailer sized vehicle. Which do you choose to have running down that one lane road at any given time, 200 of the small size files (times 100,000 downloads), or 200 of the large size files (again times 100,000 downloads). Brent does pay for this bandwidth useage, and the larger size files do slow down the rest of the server (again think of a 20mph speed limit vs a 65mph speed limit on that one lane road) and it's resources. An even better analogy would be if you ever drove over the Cross Bronx Expressway, in which case would you rather be there during rush hour, or at 2:30am with those same vehicles coming and going (times 100,000)......... Again, do not take this post as an attack, just someone elses viewpoint and opinion...Again I hope that the above paragraph helps you understand the technical (behind the scenes) things a little more.... Here is wishing you and yours a great holiday season. Yours In Rambling Fords, Bill S. |
We drive our Cobras because we can pass all that slow traffic with ease. This forum has been nothing less than helpful, entertaining and educating. A big thanks to all who make it possible. I sympathize with resizing dilema too.
I believe the possitive comments attached to the pic galleries are worn like a badge of recognition. I'd hate to lose the ones I have. John |
Everybody CHILL....The site is a work in progress, and they are trying to make it better for everyone overall. They are not intentionally trying to make everybody suffer. Give them sometime to get things in order, and set the frustration in the backseat. Let's enjoy what we have got here.

Ron did not make it sound like a crime...he rightfully presumed that you had read the thread like so many others had. :MECOOL: |

I'm closing this thread because, because there are already three sticky threads dealing with posting pictures on the All Cobra Talk thread page. All you have to do is read them.
The upshot of all this is that your problems were self-inflicted, but several of you chose to jump a moderator who was trying to explain what the problem was and to help you resolve it. Nice...real nice. |

We are in the process right now of overriding the 10 uploads a day limitation. You should be able to do as many as you need now. |
