Fixed Halon system??

I just received my "RS" Safecraft 5lb fixed Halon system for the Cobra. I've got three discharge ports on the bottle. Those of you that are using a fixed system, where are you placing the nozzles? I was thinking two in the engine compartment (where should I direct them?) and one under the dash. Then there's always possibly one in front of the fuel cell, one in the engine compartment and one under the dash?? What do you guys think?

Dave,

Mine are in the engine compartment and on the drivers side where it will cover my legs from the waist down. In the engine compartment I have the nozzle angled toward the carb and fuel line as that is the most likely place to catch on fire if something breaks or I do something stupid.

Safecraft tech advised me to put one in the engine compartment and one each in the footboxes pointed toward the feet.

Thanks Ron 'n Roscoe..

Ron, Did you mount the Nozzles directly on the firewall, facing the carb and fuel lines? If not, where did you mount them?

Dave,

Yes, mine are on the firewall, but I don't have the car home so I can't take a picture and post it. I am starting to wonder if I will ever have that thing home again. :(

Mine is mounted on the firewall pointed toward the carb. Remember that each nozzle has three outlets for a wide dispersement. I also threw away the alum tubing that came with the Safecraft kit and used braided teflon -4 AN hose for all the runs. It is a bit more pricey but much easier to install.

Not hijack the thread, but where do you mount the bottle?

Roscoe 01-14-2008 11:30 AM

I mounted mine in the trunk.

Is under the dash on the tunnel an acceptable place? I'm thinking shorter lines (1-engine, 2-footwells).

It's fine with me but don't know if others would allow it. Better check with them. :) :)

No a Cobra, but on my 65 Mustang Coupe road race car I mounted one outlet on the firewall facing the back of the carb, one under the dash pointed at my feet and the last one is pointed at the fuel cell.........

BTW: I have the same bottle that Roscoe has pictured.........I like their set-up.......

Mine in the Coupe is mounted on one of the roll bars. Meet tech inspection and I didn't have to run such long lines.

Ron :)
