Anyone running Grant Six Shooter?

Is there anyone in the group running/using the Barry Grant Six-Shooter setup? Preferrably on an FE?

I asked the same question on another forum and got this reply:

BG six shooter

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where to start ? I am running a 347 with 185 A.F.R. heads. First a little work had to be done to fit under hood. The breather hit the hood openning in front of the fire wall. I had to shorten the breather in the rear and reweld it by @ 3/4 of an inch. Then went from a 3" tall filter to a 2 1/2" . K&N makes one with a smaller dia. and 2 1/2" tall. Now for the quality of the carbs! They were full of shavings from machining and flashing from being casted, it took two good cleanings. Then came the float bowls. I could not set my float levels. The needle and seat bores were so full of porosity they would not hold a seal or would tear the "O" ring. A total of 7 bowls were sent to me and none of them would work. Finally I took the best of the bunch and JB weld the bores and had them re machined. Float levels are fine now and holding with 7 psi. and a regulator. I now have @ 5,000 mi. on them with out a problem. If I am good I can get 19 to 20 m.p.g. that is cruising on the center carb. The linkage works well, the front & back kick in at 3500 rpm. And the intake manifold runners are sized for stock heads, smaller than the intake openning on the A.F.R. heads. Dyno'd with 650 and air gap intake at 375 rwh. Will dyno tune this spring and see if things change. One other thing the carbs are actually 500 not 250's. They flow a little less because they have annual boosters and not dog leg,a better A/F mix. Was not happy with the quality for the price.

Brand selection

I am getting ready to mount carbs on my FE build, that is why I ask the question.

I have a set of originals that I have rebuilt but I don't trust them. Thought maybe it wise to go with a proven carb, but your post tells me I might not be any better off.
