MGB steering, tie rods

Hi there,

I can't get to the garage to find out the next two days. What is the thread of the MGB tie rods? 9/16-20?

Thanks in advance

Man!, when I was looking to build, the Alabama boy's (U) had that in their kit!. No way would I set my s/o on top of that.......

9/16-18 Yes, that's it I think. There is no 9/16-20 at all I found out:-(

The MGB steering rack is okay for my 289 scratch recreation:-)

Does someone know where to get rod extensions with that thread?

That is essentially the rack that was used in ALL the 60's Cobras, made by MOWOG an English supplier. The same rack but with shorter input shaft. I took an MGB rack, narrowed it, shortened the splined input shaft and used high quality rod ends instead of the standard rod ends.

I am using the High Tech steering rack, which is an MG/Cobra rack. I don't know if it is Flaming river or not, but I needed to locate some longer tie rod ends and ended up finding them at Flaming River. They have 3 different lengths, so they have you covered. I had to buy the medium length.
Mustang II would fit, but for my build they were too short. If you need Mustang II length, let me know and I'll make you a great deal on mine.

MGB TIE ROD IS 9/16 UNF and Jaguar Series 3 is 5/8UNF
I have used the jaguar tie rod end in my project and was grafted to the MGB steering rack.
The results are encouraging without a major surgery.
