Oil cooler / AN fitting question

It seems that most Cobra oil coolers are plumbed with AN16 fittings. What's a M22 fitting? How is this different size wise and mechanically from a AN16? Can they be easily plumbed or are the fittings hard to get? A friend has a oil cooler i can use that's made to accept M22 fittings and I don't know of this will present any challenges, or if I should just pass it up and go for one with the AN16 fittings.

M22 is a metric size hose. A little harder to find than AN sizes. I didn't check Aeroquip directly, but I suspect they've got them. Mocal does too.

It's a 22 MM x 1.5 pitch metric thread fitting, common use is on pressure washer hoses...not sure where you'd get the fittings. It looks like they're set up to take O-rings between the male and female, is that right?

Original 427 cars were set up with -12 AN. You can get M22 hose ends from Setreb.

Original 289 comp cars were set up with -10 AN fittings.

I have never seen a car with -16 fittings.

This guy has what you need. It is a special fitting for the Setrab has an o-ring. They are only about 13 bucks each, Monty also has all the hose and ends you will ever need,, prices are good too service is top notch.
Or you can do like I did- drive around for two weeks trying to reinvent the wheel and almost screw up your 300 buck cooler.
