what a way to go and be remembered. I plan to re-write my will now.

4 door cars don't count as a Sports Car, do they?

GT my friend. That 4 door rule doesn't apply and is a old unwritten rule. It's all about the 3 "S's" shekels, style and speed.

Well, my 1977 Toyota Celica was a GT, does that count?
As far as the shekels, style and speed - At a cost of $112,200 base, to steal the portholes of a late 40's Buick (below), you'd think they could do better at 0-60 than a $26k Ford Mustang but not so at 5.1 sec. 0-60 Times & 0-60 Comparisons
Sports car? Well, maybe not....

Obviously your are an extremist while making a point or a comparison. I will leave it at that. But my BMW lovers and owners will like to dispute their 4 door 745 or 4 door 750 doesn't fall into the sports car sedan class.
Again the 2dr mentality is a old "street rod" thought and times are different. The more doors the more fun and the more passengers the more gas money!!

I love the look of my Cobra.

And I realy like my 700hp supercharged Corvette.

But this is my favorite.

That said. I think the best looking sport car is the Ferrari Dino 246GT. I just don't have the funds to have one.

Totally forgot this one until I saw one last night.
Too bad they were so underpowered. Looking forward to their resurrection.

Next to the 289 FIA and the Daytona coupe this is my favorite

Its not even close! The two runaways tied at the top are the Shelby Cobra 427 SC in Raven black and the Ford GT in Mark IV red of course!

Everything else is a distant second.

RedEsprit 02-03-2008 01:56 PM

1. Ferrari P4. It literally hurts to look at these
2. Iso Grifo (early small block)
3. FIA Cobra
4. DeTomaso Mangusta
5. BMW 507

That is the official wish list

Would have to be the greatest car ever built,

The McLaren F1 was formerly the fastest street legal production car in the world from 1994 to 2005, the longest for any street legal or production car in the history of automobiles

Yeah, the McLaren was spectacular.

And it brings to mind the car that beat it as certainly one of the most beautiful sports cars:

The Saleen S7

It's pretty, and there's a guy down in my neck o' the woods that regularly takes his out. Sounds reeeeeeally beautiful when he opens it up.

Your pal,
Meat.

P.S. If you do like the McLaren ... you might want to check out DDR Motorsports
