Who Built My Cobra?
Hi, Great to be here! Can anyone help identify my new purchase? It has three windshield wipers (strange), a flared opening for the side exhaust to exit, a single large grille opening (no lower small opening for a tranny cooler), a very low profile hood scoop that is flat on top and no opening underneath the scoop to the engine, and box tubing frame. Ford 302, 5 Speed, Corvette? independent rear.
The rest of the body, wheel well flares and dimensions appear to all be very correct as an original. I cannot seem to locate any type of manufacture codes or numbers. Came from Texas about 10 years ago. |
First, Welcome to CC. There is an abundance of help here.
Pictures, Pictures and more Pictures. Side, front and rear of car. Engine compartment, interior and suspension. With all of that someone on here should be able to help. Terry |

Aurora certainly were the guys with three wipers..
But I think they were only turnkey cars and they were only 289 street car (slabside) style bodies, not 427. |
There is a guy in the WCCC that has three windshield wipers also (427 body style). I believe his car came out of Mexico.
Can't recall what type of car it was? Let me think a little. I could only find one pic of the rear of his car (hope it helps a little) The blue with white stripes at the pump. Corbet comes to mind for the manufacturer. This car is also corvette suspension and chevy engine from what I remember. |
The only thing a 3 wiper system means is they installed a system from an MG and didn’t modify it to eliminate the middle wiper as I did when I got my MG wipers from some junk yard and installed them on my Elegant Motors Cobra.

Here are some images now on my Gallery!

As you can see, it looks and feels like the full-sized 427 body. I wonder if it is the same as the blue one shown in the above post. Notice they both have a close proximity between the license plate light and trunk latch. The plate would almost have to be mounted on the bumper... That blue car even has the same 3-piece wheel style. Mine has no roll bar, so not the same car. -By the way- I am really impressed and thankful to everyone that has responded so quickly. This is my first time on a site like this and it has to be the best!! |
After seeing your images, that's the same car he has. The interior is very close, the seats look the same (his are blue and white though). The wheels are the same. Rear bumper is the same. etc.
I found his car info also. It was Corbett. Try to send him a pm. His user name is "speed" His name is David. |
Corbet Cobra
I Googled Corbet Cobra and got nothing. Any ideas of historical data? I think it is Corbett with two t's.
